"Genderless" Toys

 

Bobo is designed for children ages between 4 and 6. The design is inspired by the psychological experiment "Bobo Doll". This experiment shows how children are inspired by adult behavior.

 

Bobo Vacuum Cleaner works like a regular vacuum cleaner. On the other hand, its ergonomy, size, and style have specifically been designed for children. My aim was to design a vacuum cleaner that children can play with when they want to mimic adult behavior. Furthermore, the "cleaning" requires a great amount of motor coordination. Hence, Bobo also helps children to develop strong eye-hand coordination.

Most of the time, cleaning is associated with "women". With Bobo, I wanted to break the stereotype of cleaning just being for women by using  "genderless" colors and style which promotes every child to play and clean with it!

 

My aim was to design a toy vacuum cleaner to promote the cleaning behavior and motor coordination of children. Furthermore, I wanted to break the stereotype of cleaning just being for women by using various colors and styles.
